Weekly Reflection

“But now be strong, Zerubbabel,” declares the Lord. “Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,” declares the Lord, “and work. For I am with you,” declares the Lord Almighty. — Haggai 2:4 (NIV)

Sometimes the work in front of us feels too big. The task is daunting, our energy is limited, and we wonder if what we’re doing even matters. That’s exactly how the people of Judah felt when God spoke these words through the prophet Haggai.
They had returned from exile with high hopes, but rebuilding the temple was harder than expected. Progress was slow, and they felt discouraged. But God didn’t tell them to give up or to wait until things felt easier. He said, “Be strong… and work. For I am with you.”
What a powerful reminder that God’s presence isn’t dependent on our strength—it’s what gives us strength. When the road ahead feels long, when the ministry feels thankless, when the call of obedience seems costly, He is still with us. And because He is with us, our work has meaning.
The message is simple but life-changing: Keep going. God is with you.

Reflection Questions:
  1. What “work” has God called you to in this season of life?
  2. In what ways have you felt discouraged or tired recently—and how might God’s presence encourage you to keep going?
